Italian Dreams

by Robb Murphy

/

about

Italian Dreams was written during a long summer in Italy and is a lighthearted song with a 60s vibe, a hint of The Beach Boys, certain to spark memories of those heady summer days and your first love. The lyric, ‘Dolce far niente’, is an important activity in Italy and translates to, ‘the sweetness of doing nothing’.

The single is supported by an animated video created by Italian artist Marco Burani. We invite you to enjoy Italian Dreams as a glimpse into the future and allowing Robb Murphy to transport you to those lazy, hazy summer days gone by. www.youtube.com/watch?v=00_0TM1K97Q

lyrics

I got my finger on the pulse
It’s not the thing I thought it was
When we go back to school
I know I want to break the rules

Italian dreams in my mind
I’m telling you they don’t lie
I got a feeling I could die
A happy man here tonight
Dolce far niente

So they must think that I’m a fool
To live a life outside these rules
I don’t care what they say
Hope they will realise some day

I wanna be there see it all
Lift up your head and take that fall
I want to be that man
Who helps you be all that you can

Italian dreams in my mind
I’m telling you they don’t lie
I got a feeling I could die
A happy man here tonight

I won’t go to school I wont I’ll stay another day
I won’t go to school I wont I’ll stay another day
Dolce far niente
