1.
Nothing to gain nothing to loose You wont find him lying in bed It takes a lot I guess to cover all this emptiness And push aside the demons when they come I saw him laughing at the sky Oh there’s a lot of life in the old boy yet Oh there’s a lot of life in the old boy yet We drove all to find a doc but he wont even patch him up And when the morning came it took away all the blame And left me with a man I used to know I saw him laughing at the sky Oh there’s a lot of life in the old boy yet Oh there’s a lot of life in the old boy yet Only gain what you sow Only get what you grow Always tell who you love in life So read this as a one way sign That your heart is not designed To leave this world ‘till it’s your time I saw him laughing at the sky Oh there’s a lot of life in the old boy yet Oh there’s a lot of life in the old boy yet
2.
Time moves slow, how was she supposed to know Why is it they come round, she picks them up and they knock her down She takes one breath, one last night ignore her own health She don’t put it on a sign but the wolves are a creeping up on her Oh my love, oh my heart Tears me apart when I think of them, kicking around with your heart Oh my love, oh my soul What would you think if took you home, never let you go Four years pass and every next time is her last Why doesn’t she get out, I guess it’s just familiar So I’ll wait, but know this I wont hesitate I will play the clown, I’ll pick you up you can knock me down Oh my love, oh my heart Tears me apart when I think of them, kicking around with your heart Oh my love, oh my soul What would you think if took you home, never let you go Oh let it go and get out of this dark black hole Set your spirit free and soar I cannot stand to enable you and your plans If I do I’ll be the same as you So I’ll go, oh I’ll go It tears me apart when I think of it, letting go of your heart Oh my love, oh my soul Tell me if you ever think of us and I’ll come take you home
Take you home I’ll will play the clown, I’ll pick you up you can knock me down

about

‘Laughing at the Sky’ is a hopeful song with a hint of country that sings of what seems to be a lost, heartbroken old man but in fact he is very content with his simple minimalistic lifestyle. ‘Oh there’s a lot of life in the old boy yet’ is the line that repeats in the chorus emphasising that no matter what age you are or what life circumstances you are in, there is always hope and more life to come regardless what misfortunes you may have been dealt. The accompanying video was shot in the Bardenas Reales Desert in Spain and narrates this story in the form of a lonesome cowboy making his journey towards Castil de Terra, a famous rock formation in Navarra Northern Spain. Local filmmaker David McGarvey from Firefly Films shot and directed the music video. youtu.be/rIMSz0V-TcY

Also included with this release is the song ‘Knock Me Down’, an americana ballad with influences such as Counting Crows, Neil Young and Ryan Adams.

‘Laughing At The Sky’ will be available on Bandcamp, iTunes, iTunes Music Player, Google Play Music, Amazon and other online music stores from the 28th of June 2019.

Ralph McLean of BBC Radio Ulster says, "Robb Murphy is a real talent. His songs are melodic and magical. He writes from the heart and the results are spellbinding."
